Why Starting a Healthy Habit Without Doing the Inner Work First Is Not a Good Idea

Updated: Nov 23, 2021

Based on the question that I asked on the Instagram story - What will drastically improve your confidence, many of you chose the answer ''creating healthier habits instead of inner work, so let's talk about it.

Creating a healthy habit is an amazing choice, but this is why the inner work is important, to begin with. There can be two potential scenarios if there isn't any inner work done:

  1. You start to work on a healthy habit, but shortly after you lose motivation to keep going and you stop.

  2. You push yourself way over the limits, which ends up resulting in burnout or the worst scenario - serious health issues.

✋Raise your hand if you can relate to any of the mentioned scenarios. I definitely can.✋

The inner work is about listening to your body, intuitively finding out what is best for you, dealing with limiting beliefs that are holding you back, and improving your mindset.

This is my story on why starting a healthy habit didn't work.

I used to work out because I wanted to have abs. After all, that's how I used to perceive beauty and healthy living. However, I could never adopt it as a habit. I never questioned my perception of it, yet I criticized myself for not looking a certain way.

This perception of what a healthy body looks like was so strong that I wasn't aware of any issue with my mindset. Once I started my self-love journey and do my inner work, that's where things started to change real quick.

I realized how many times I neglected my own needs and sayings on my body. Then I started to seek positive ways to break these negative beliefs I grew up with. As a result, I am now working out for fun many times a week, I am enjoying the workouts or any other activities that genuinely make me feel good in my body without focusing on how I look or want to look. This is the power of inner work. And this is why it must come first.

I could write a book on how life-changing it can be once you start doing inner work, there is so much to it, so if you have any questions you want me to answer - you are more than welcome to do so.
