October is a month that is well-known for Halloween, ghosts, and spooky stuff. But, we cannot forget that it is also a month where we celebrate a positive attitude. "A positive attitude is the best trait you can carry with you because it makes any difficult or frustrating situation a lot easier to deal with" (from National day calendar).
So, what can we do about this news or a better question: how to celebrate a Positive Attitude month? One for sure - start maintaining or keep maintaining a positive attitude. You are probably wondering right now: "How can I do it?" Don't worry! I will share with you a few tips on this subject – keep reading to find it out.
Smile/laugh more
Smile or laugh even if you don't want to or don't have a reason – it helps to release "feel good" hormones in your brain. Your day will be so much better than before. Not even you will feel happier, but you will make others around you laugh too! :)
Be around positive people
Stop surrounding yourself with people who make you feel bad or tend to bring you down. Instead, choose to spend time with people who are positive and uplifting. I promise you – your life will look much better after doing it.
Identify places that express negativity
The same as it was with the people I talked about earlier. Places can also be categorized as bad or good, positive or negative. For each person, it can be different. Try to spend more time in places where you feel safe and positive, and avoid places that make you feel the opposite.
Choose what you read, listen, watch
Social media, like Instagram or Facebook, have all of these activities. Be responsible and careful about how you use them.
Take a break
Even if your job is your hobby and you love what you do, you still need a day off. Everyone needs it. Go somewhere or do something where you can relax, enjoy yourself, and don't think about anything else that might bring you stress. You won't regret it. You will feel rested, full of renewed energy, and ready to continue your work in a better mood, as well as mentally and physically.
Journal
Thoughts, thoughts, thoughts! They wander through our minds. Sometimes they are too much and not always positive. Therefore, the ideal solution is to set it all out on paper, or better yet, create and start your journal. You can write there everything that has accumulated in your mind - both positive and negative. After that, you will be able to think much more clearly and probably more positively. Maybe even find causes and answers to negative thoughts.
How to journal (not only using paper and pen) more creatively and aimed at self-love/self-care, I suggest you read this article: 5 creative ideas how to journal your self-love journey.
Exercise
Exercising – yoga, running, weight training, etc. – can make you happier. Many studies show that exercising increases positivity and decreases depression, anxiety, and stress. No matter what you do, which counts as an activity, do it!
Create a good morning routine
By the morning, you can determine what your day is going to be. Therefore, start your mornings good so that they create a positive mood in you. Routine is helpful in this case. Because you know what you need to do that will bring you happiness for the following day and what's not.
If your morning is chaotic and you don't have a morning routine or your current morning routine stopped working, then this quiz may help you: What type of morning routine fits you best and how to improve it?
Treat yourself once more
It doesn't only mean having a dessert or snack you didn't have for a long time. It also means to pamper yourself by going to the spa or doing it at home. Treating yourself once in a while also means going somewhere you haven't for a long time, for example, going to the cinema or shopping, etc. It definitely will bring you more joy in your life.
Have a goal
Both small and big goal is better than nothing. It allows you to strive for something, to get better at something. But, the best thing is that every step closer to it creates positive feedback on you.
A goal can be anything, for example, to clean a house or complete a task for a job. I can tell you it will make you feel stronger, more motivated, but most importantly, happy about yourself. So, set a goal and aim for it – YOU CAN DO IT!
