The Face tune app is one of the most popular tools for creating unrealistic beauty standards as you can change your whole appearance in it. And the scariest thing is that many times it can be very difficult to recognize it, before the thought of comparison hits.
As an example, I have created a GIF to show you what you can create for free with this app. I edited the photo of myself based on the beauty standards I have seen all over social media. I can totally see how this can negatively impact one's mental health if used in the long term. Constant use of appearance editing apps is linked to Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Stress and Anxiety, constant comparison, and a lot more.

In the past, I did use this app for quite some time to hide dark circles under my eyes and make my whole skin look smoother. But, back then, I used to have a different perception of beauty itself. I wasn't confident about the way I looked until I started my self-love journey.
So, how can you stop relying on appearance focused editing apps?
Start your self-love journey and work on changing your perception of beauty. As a result, you will gain so much love and confidence in yourself. You won't see the point of retouching your appearance anymore. I highly recommend you to try the 7-Day Positive Body Image challenge to start your self-love journey on a positive note.
You can never be 100% sure if the photo you see on social media is real. So, I hope this post will come as a positive reminder for you to stop comparing yourself to others.
